Zara appeals the sentence handed down in Brazil holding it responsible for offences committed by another company in 2011

Inditex considers that it is still in a defenseless situation in Brazil as the decision of the 3 Vara do Trabalho de Sao Paulo Paulo fails to consider Ahá’s intentional concealment of production at illegal factories in 2011.

Ahá sent garments to these suppliers without Zara Brazil’s knowledge, obtaining a profit in the process. This supplier caused a serious damage to the image and reputation of Inditex, matters that have not been taken into consideration in the ruling. On the contrary, the supplier that actually committed the facts has neither been investigated nor been trailed, and still operates in the market.

Inditex reassures its commitment with workers’ rights and with the compliance of the Brazilian Labor Law of all its suppliers. Besides, Inditex Group continues working intensely to support and train micro-businesses and immigrant workers in Brazil in an attempt to help eradicate irregular practices in the country’s textile industry.
