The Vidya Project is an example of how Inditex’s Corporate Social Responsibility team works.

Inditex constantly monitors its suppliers and works closely with them towards the continual improvement of working conditions.

Inditex’s CSR policies aim to improve conditions working in collaboration with trade unions, independent organisations and industry peers.

Inditex sources most of its products in Europe and neighbouring countries. India represents about 5 percent of its global sourcing.

This section provides an overview of the work of Inditex’s CSR teams to constantly improve every process in the supply chain, as part of the implementation of our Code of Conduct for External Manufacturers which has been in place since 2001.

It includes a case study on the Vidya Project in India, which accounts for around 5% of Inditex’s total sourcing. This initiative, launched in 2009, targeted the 24 lowest rated suppliers and applied a series of measures that sought to ensure their compliance with Inditex’s Code of Conduct and improve control over the supply chain.

Our efforts ensured that of the original 24 suppliers, 17 achieved improved ratings. Three suppliers were discarded because they failed to provide sufficient guarantees of compliance with the Code of Conduct, while relations with the remaining four were discontinued for commercial reasons.
