Collaborating to safeguard the planet
We are working on a number of different fronts to use resources more efficiently, protect biodiversity, foster circularity and, thereby, advance towards decarbonisation. To articulate that thrust, in 2019 we approved our Sustainability Roadmap, setting down important commitments regarding the use of sustainable raw materials, the reuse and recycling of waste and the use of renewable sources of energy, among others.
Since then, we have been setting our ambitions higher and higher. For example, on the decarbonisation front, in 2020, Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) approved our greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets, rating them as “ambitious”, reflecting the fact that they are more stringent than the most demanding emissions-cutting roadmaps in place at the time. In 2021, we went a step further by bringing our net-zero emissions target forward by a whole decade, to 2040.
We are aware of the speed with which environmental challenges and opportunities, particularly those related with decarbonisation, are evolving. As a result, we fine-tune our targets and scenarios regularly. We are also collaborating with other companies and organisations in order to attain shared objectives and commitments. It is worth highlighting our collaborations with the MIT Climate and Sustainability Consortium, Race To Zero, The Fashion Pact and the Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action under the auspices of UN Climate Change.
