End-to-end management of our supply chain is embedded into the work performed by our design, buyer, quality and sustainability teams. This holistic approach is only possible if we can identify where our products are sourced, track them along the various stages of the production chain and share that information transparently with our stakeholders. We develop innovative solutions to that end.
We expanded our traceability coverage
In 2018, we expanded the reach of our supply chain traceability coverage - a priority to prevent the deviation of production - by adding innovative tools and methodologies developed internally:
We also worked on tracing the source of raw materials used. For cotton, one of the most important, we did this in collaboration with partners such as the Better Cotton Initiative, Textile Exchange, Organic Cotton Accelerator and the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
We are transparent
We are transparent and share information about our supply chain, with suppliers in 43 markets. Its footprint, as our stakeholders', is crucial in helping us to address the challenges facing the garment industry:
- IndustriALL Global Union, which represents over 50 million workers in more than 140 countries, has access to Inditex's full list of suppliers and manufacturers.
- We also share information with the ILO about our 116 factories in Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Bangladesh under the Better Work initiative.
- We publish the list of factories that directly and indirectly carry out wet processing, as reported by our suppliers.
- We answer the queries channelled by customers, investors and NGOs.
- We share relevant information with other sector players.
