This role is endorsed by the rate of openings in the area during 2012, where four of the five new markets in which the Group started its commercial activities can be found: Europe accounted for 47% of the openings of new stores during the year, with the presentation of Zara's new image in emblematic locations such as London or Paris, or the entry of Pull&Bear in Austria, among other examples. Russia was the market with the largest number of openings in Europe (75).

China continued to be the market with the largest number of inaugurations, 121 in 2012, with a total of 396 stores. In this regard, the arrival of Uterqüe to this market, with two stores in Beijing and Hong Kong, is particularly worth noting. South Korea and Japan are also relevant markets, where 13 and 12 stores respectively were opened during the year. It was precisely in Osaka (Shinsaibashi) that Bershka opened a flagship store.
